Rev Andrew Bellous - Pastor
Pastor Andrew leads our services, preaching from the Bible and praying for the congregation. He also leads the Worship Team, playing contemporary music with a worship band incorporating guitar, keyboard and drums.
Andrew believes in the value of visitation and small groups. Sunday mornings are important, but our lives of faith need to extend into the community as we develop friendships based on faith and speak into each other's lives. Church is about more than what happens in the walls of the church building. A healthy church is one in which we care for each other and about each other.
Brenda Thorne - Organist
Brenda leads our choir and plays organ leading the hymns we sing and playing piano with the worship team. She brings a wealth of experience and talent to her role, and enlivens our services.
Brenda served for many years as a music teacher in the public school system, and made strong contributions to choral music in Ontario, writing curricula for the school board, mentoring other teachers, and serving as part of the Kodaly board.
We benefit each week from Brenda's faithful dedication to music at FBCW.
Judy Des Roches - Admin
Judy Des Roches tends our office, keeping us connected and on track. She fields calls, prepares the bulletin and takes care of all the details that are necessary to ensure things keep running smoothly. Judy works for us part-time, and also serves the broader community by caring for some of the most vulnerable members of our city in community housing.
Board of Directors
The Board of deacons sees to the spiritual health and needs of members of the congregation. They work with the pastor to provide pastoral care, visit members of the congregation who are unwell, and assist in planning worship services.
Christian Development Board
The Christian Development Board is responsible for the spiritual growth of members through Sunday School, Nursery and Adult Sunday School. They also organize social events such as potlucks or picnics.
The Adelaide Soup Bowl
During the colder months of the year, First Baptist hosts the Adelaide Soup bowl. A variety of congregations throughout the city come together at our church building to reach out to members of the community in need. Anyone may enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch three days a week M-W-F from October to April.
